USC's founding is tied to the Methodist Church; it's first president, Marion M. Bovard, was the Secretary of the United Methodist Church Southern California Conference. The two boxes of records contain the Minutes (later called the Journal) of the annual Southern California Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, in published form.
